Essential oils in one place, carrier and vegetable oils in another, hydrolats and plant actives somewhere else again: plant materials have long been studied one tradition at a time. Therapeutic formulation is the craft of bringing them together, understanding how they behave alongside one another, and putting them to work for what a particular person actually needs.
